PASOKISATION, Or the decline of the social-democratic left in Europe

2012 the greek centre-left party PASOK lost the general elections massivly. In 2015 the radical left replaced quasi totally the old left. Since then, „pasokisation“ has been a term applied to the decline of the traditional left people’s parties in Europe. Only a fewer and fewer countries in the European Union were ruled in 2020 by social-democrats. Now that the traditional left became for many Europeans obsolet, replaceble and maybe ideologically more and more sterile, there should emerge a new left based on ecology, healthcare for all, secured rent, solidarity, worker’s rights and the defence of democracy.

During the last european elections in 2019, only five countries elected majorly left parties, while six centrist parties took the lead in other countries.
