The latin term iustitia, justice, come from ivs, which means law. The anciant greek term for justice is dikaiosyme and it came also from the word dike (law).

The term religio meant in his original meaning a scrouple to do not a certain thing or a feeling to restrain to do a certain thing. Temperennce and religiosity were, nearly the same thing in ancient Greece.

Religion had actually, at the dawn of greaco-roman history, the rôle to keep people’s wrongdoing in check and (later ?) also to controll the masses. Justice is in its original meaning probably identical to the concept of „lawfullness“. The law is not always just, but the moral feeling of justice is based on reciprocity, from which many laws have their origin.
