Meritocracy seems to be more and more welcomed in a world where nepotism and corruption are rotting our economical, social and political system. These tenets should be the groundwork of a more elaborated meritocratic ethical theory and way of life. Especially considering politics and relationships at work and in the private sphere, the corrolaries following the tenets must be elaborate.
- Fairness, respect an honesty.
- Trust and confidence is very important, don’t abuse or loose it.
- Quid pro qou. „This for that.“ Do ut des. „I give, so that you give.“ Manus manum lavat. „A hand wash the other hand.“
- Future-orientation and believe in progress.
- Don’t ask what the community can do for you, ask what you can do for the community. There is no place for a mentality like: „after me the flood“.
- The more you work, the more you owe. If you want more money, work harder and with better results.
- Don’t criticise problems whithout proposing solutions.
- Study the law, there is no excuse not to know the law.
- No excuses are valid, if the consequences of your actions are harming the company.
- You are responsible for everything you do and of the impact of your actions. No excuses are valid, if the consequences of your actions are harming the company.
