An uchrony: 1934 – 1944

When the world’s economy crashed and laid down in pieces some picked them up and others saw in it an opportnity to become powerful through charismatic guidance fuled by the discontent of an anxious population. Sir Oswald Mosley won the general elections and became Prime Minister of Great Britain in 1934. In three years his fasicst regime was solidlified and british democracy abolished. Meanwhile he declared war on France and Germany. After the birtish victory the Benlux, three-quaters of France and two-thirds of Germany was occupied or annexed by the British Empire. Marshall Philippe Pétain and Prince Wilhelm of Prussia became chiefs of puppet governments respectivly in non-occupied teritories of Vichy-France and Prussia. King George Vth wanted to end the war, failed to convince the fanatised british navy, while Mosley’s power grew too much after France’s „First Soldier“ Albert Sévérin Roche was betrayed and killed by french fascist terrorists and the old Germany’s Reichspräsident Paul von Hindenburg died and so the morale of the coalition’s soldiers and population faded away. After his victory Mosley declared himself leader and imperial chancellor of the British Empire, taking away, the king, the parliament, the courts and the people their last bit of power they had. After King Edward VIIIth ascended the throne, he didn’t care about politics, lived decadently in debauchery and let Mosley rule the Empire with an iron fist.

Meanwhile, Japan’s Emperor Hirohito, inspired by Mosley, conquered most of East Asia and majority of the Soviet Union, killing Prime Minister Joseph Stalin during the invasion. Prince Wilhelm was jealous, anxious and enraged by the successes of these other fascist leaders and so decided to conquer Eastern Europe with his small but powerful army. Mosley was furious that the prince he installed created his own dominion, but Britain concentrated most of his armies in Southern Asia and so could not focus too much on its former puppet. Britain took eventually half of Asia, lanching an invasion from the british raj in India. Franklin D. Roosevelt could not convince the Congress or the Americain people to rise up against totalitarian powers, because of the relative isolationist tradition, the decision of Japan to use its navy to invade thr USSR instead of the USA and the fact that british MI6 bribed many influential senators and opinion leaders to bloc anti-britofascist bills in congress. When a dozen US-senators were accused of corruption and high treason, then impeached, America finally woke up, but it was by far too late. In 1944 the British, Prussian and Japanese Empires stood at the zenith of their power.

In one of these three totalitarian superstates lived Sangita and Priyanka, two Indian ladies. They knew barely of a country called Prussia, before the global shock where everyone heard that under the supervision of Dr. Fritz-Werner Heisenberg, the princely empire develloped a weapon so horrible it could destroy entire cities or continents within seconds. Sangita’s boyfriend served in the raj’s army which made her very nervous. Priyanka’s father thought about to emigrate in the USA, when a nuclear war between the Prussian and British Empire became unevitable, but as a sergeant of the raj’s army, desertion meant death. Sangita talked one evening during the Indian New Year’s Eve with Priyanka about the current state of the world. Sangita thought about to join a peace movement and becoming a diplomat to negociate peace, so that the three superpowers could live in peace. Everyone knew that it was only a matter of time until Japan or Britain would build their own nuclear weapons, so Priyanka wanted to leave the Empire before it was too late. The discussion ended nearly before the slip into the Indian new year.

In euphory they forgot their worries for a while, but the very next day the viceroy of India made a terrible announcement: London and the viceroyalty agreed to decree a state of emergency for all of the raj. Provisions shall be reserved for military purposes. Unauthorised assemblies shall be illegal. When durign the fall and winter of 1944 a mass starvation happened and bread-riots were cracked down brutally by british occupation forces, the two women met in secrecy to inform the other about their next moves. At the end, they couln’d agree which path they should take. Priyanka could not understand why Sangita didn’t agree to come with her in America, even if it would be legal.

Her friend Sangita was more idealistic, but their convictions and sense of duty, didn’t blinded her to be pragmatic as well as reasonable and so she preparing to leave the empire’s territory with their close ones in case of great and acute dread. Both women from higher castes had the privilege to find, plan and finance a way out of this mess. Even if both had always mercy and respect for the lower casts and „untouchables“ they genuinly believed the caste system’s existence was well-enough justified for socio-economic and religious moral reasons. Living in a community where shame hold it together and caste-solidarity was an essential part of their education, the two women experienced a culture shock when a french tourist was boasted once that in 1789 the revolutionary assembly dissoluted the first and second estate (i.e. the clergy and the nobility) so that everyone shall be equal before the law.

Epilog: 1944 – 1964

One night, Sir Oswald Mosley was declared missing; in reality, King Edward VIIIth had commissioned the murder-sect of the Kali cult to stab him, in order to become an absolute ruler. Mosley’s party was dissolved afterwards and Edward haughtily proclaimed himself „Emperor of the Earth“. The joy of the „emperor“ was short-lived. The decolonization movement around 1960 weakened Britain, Prussia and Japan so much that their „colonies“ became extremely autonomous and their authority was so weak that their empires existed only on paper. Ludwig-Ferdinand von Hohenzollern, the new prince of Prussia, had even to decide if he disbands his army or give up interfering in other nation’s affairs, being threatened by state bankrupcy, due to the cost of maintening an army and an empire at the same time. Sangita and Priyanka met again, twenty years after the events in 1944, this time taking part in world-wide anti-nuclear protests.

A crossover: the 1960s

Since 1962 three countries in eastern Europe have fight to take control over the Kingdom of Szeklerland. Westerland, Osterland and Suedland are experimenting and building more powefull weapons than before. Despite Prussia’s and the Empire’s demands to absolutly denuclearise and maybe demilitarise the three autocracies didn’t reconsidered their plans on nuclear weaponry. Two years after the begining of the conflict in Szeklerland the situation escalated even more after Prussia also is on the verge to become a nuclear power (as a compensation for the lost of its empire) and became more defiend towards Westerland in fear to become the next target after Szeklerland. Westerlands ultimatum towards Prussia to bomb its nuclear research facilities was answared by worldwide anti-war-protests and Prussia’s demands towards Westerland, as well as towards Osterland and Suedland to stop its war of aggression in Szeklerland. Cisalpinia send its diplomats in Yalta where it should meet a representant from the Oberste Heeresleitung, the ruling military junta of Westerland, in order to negociate some measures of deescalation. Their excellencies Enzo di Revelli and Vallerio Songatore were not amused by their first impressions they had in Kronstadt, the capital city of Yalta.
